Patient Information

Counseling Services

Carrollwood Village Counseling Associates offers individual counseling for children, adolescents and adults as well as for couples.  Initial appointments are always conducted face to face.  The therapeutic process is most effective when patient and therapist are in the same place at the same time.  As an alternative, but not a substitute for in office sessions, established patients may discuss the occasional option of the use of electronic contact (email, telephone) with their therapist. It is important to acknowledge the possibility that confidentiality can be breached when security measures are not fully regarded.

Appointments

Appointments may be scheduled by calling the office at 813.964.9400.  If you prefer, send an email and a staff member will call you to arrange your session.  Please be prepared with insurance information (if applicable) so authorization can be obtained prior to your visit. Plan to arrive 20 minutes early for your first appointment.  If you will be delayed, please call and let us know.  Cancellations must be reported 24 hours prior to appointment times to avoid possible charges.  This office respects the value of your time and in most cases, other than occasional emergency situations, expects to be ready for you at your appointed time.  Your promptness will be appreciated.

What to Expect

The first appointment is spent in establishing rapport and gathering information regarding the nature of the presenting problem.  Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is able to discuss the child/adolescent's background and the nature of the presenting problem. Parents should expect to take an active role in their child's treatment.  Generally, after no more than 2 or 3 appointments, the therapist will present and discuss a treatment plan proposing goals for the sessions.

The therapeutic process takes time.  Frequently, old habits or thought patterns will need to be changed---not an easy thing for many people to do.  To be meaningful and productive, therapy requires the patient's full participation in a solution focused process and should expect to fulfill assignments along the way.  Patients are encouraged to ask questions and state concerns as they may arise.

Fees

Payment is due at the time of service.  Payments may be made by cash, check, or major credit card.  Carrollwood Village Counseling Associates are providers on most insurance panels. Please discuss any special financial arrangements when you make your appointment.  Affordable fee for service arrangements will also considered. You will be responsible for payment of services not covered by your insurance plan.  These services will be provided only with your prior consent.
